The world’s first ever interactive and immersive games room experience
…with a never-before-seen ‘mega’ Holey Moley course under the same roof!
Sydneysiders are in for a treat as the masterminds at Funlab have unveiled their latest good-time venue, Hijinx Hotel.
A leisure-tainment wonderland of nostalgia where guests ‘play, not stay’, there are no beds or overnight stays at Hijinx Hotel! It is a sensory feast of jaw-dropping splendour that is set to level-up any date night, catch-up with mates, or family day out.
Featuring a faux hotel lobby, a lift, three cocktail bars and 15 quick-play game rooms, guests will be catapulted back to the thrilling days of yesteryear as they rollick amongst the whacky retro decor.
Likened to a Willy Wonka fever dream, each of the game rooms pay homage to a smorgasbord of 80s and 90s cult classic movies and board games – all housed on the set of a sophisticated New York hotel facade.
After snapping content for the ‘gram, guests will call upon skill, cooperation, coordination and a little bit of luck to claim victory in the completely interactive and immersive games.
Players will revel in the ultimate throwback experience as they navigate their way through flashback faves such as the Poke A Dot, Scrambled and Shape’n Up game rooms, inspired by the likes of Twister, Scrabble and Tetris.
There’s also Major Minor – a nod to Tom Hanks’ 1988 fantasy film, Big, with a giant floor-piano requiring players to repeat a randomly selected music sequence… with their feet! Then there’s Draw Me Like One Of Your French Girls – the gravity defying Titanic-themed room with its masterfully designed interior creating the illusion of being smack-bang in the middle of a sinking ship. A head-spinning challenge that will have you wondering if your heart will, indeed, go on!
With 15 game rooms, guests can purchase a 30 minute game session in teams of 2-6 players. Sessions include a ‘course’ of five game rooms at four minutes per room and lasting 20 minutes in total, with 10 minutes to move between rooms.
To tantalise the taste-buds, guests can head to one of the venue’s three bars, including the neon-lit Hotel Lobby Bar and the Caravan Beer Garden to refuel on some of the most tricked-up Hijinx Hotel themed snacks and bevvies. Tequila swillers will enjoy a premium selection of margaritas thanks to the official Hijinx Hotel launch beverage partner, Casamigos Tequila – we’re talking Tommy’s, Watermelon and Mezcal, all served in a crisply chilled, salt-rimmed glass.
For a truly theatrical experience, have the bartender prepare the awe-inspiring Bubble and Pop cocktail in front of your eyes; a delectable concoction of tequila, white chocolate, passionfruit, lemon, and egg white, topped with a sweetly scented bubble that bursts and gives way to a dazzling suspended vapour – a real magician’s reveal moment!
Under the same roof – for the putt-putt enthusiasts – a brand new, never-before-seen ‘mega’ Holey Moley will be bringing the Alice in Wonderland vibes with its 27 themed holes taking full advantage of the venue’s staggering 14-metre high ceilings.
Featuring the Giant Avocado, Pirate Ship, Jaws and Honey I Shrunk the Kids themed holes, this is a not-to-be-missed extravaganza of unparalleled proportions.
Blaise Witnish, Chief Growth & Innovation Officer at Funlab, is incredibly excited for the concept to come to life for Sydneysiders to experience. Witnish says,“Hijinx Hotel is like nothing we’ve ever done, or that the world has ever seen before. It’s perfect for the young and young at heart who are wildly sentimental or love a throwback.
Not only are we stoked to be giving the precinct this brand new and exciting concept, we think the addition of our biggest EVER Holey Moley venue will add even more fun-factor to Alexandria, and the existing Archie Brothers Cirque Electriq venue, and further establish it as the perfect place for an epic day or night out.
There are so many curated details to make every aspect of the precinct memorable, and of course, a blast to experience. The team has let their imaginations run wild and we are thrilled to finally open the doors on Hijinx Hotel and the mega Holey Moley.”
